Other universities reduce people to a number – but with creative subjects marked down, the ATAR is not a fair or accurate measure of creativity. For the Australian College of the Arts, this meant that exceptional creative talent was falling through the cracks of the system. So in a landmark move, we abolished the ATAR barrier to entry. Announced in the week leading up to the release of ATAR results, the supporting TikTok film sees students literally ‘smashing’ their ATAR with the power of creativity – shattering misconceptions to change the conversation, change preferences and change the course of lives.
